Composer Montserrat Torras and vocalist Sofia Koutsovitis started collaborating in 2004 in a series of pieces for solo voice and pre-recorded sounds. The composer, intrigued by Sofia's "repertoire of sounds" explores along with the singer textures, timbres, colors and other aspects of the human voice. The pieces use prerecorded sound samples taken from the singer herself performing pre-composed ideas from rhythm, harmony, melody and spoken word. The pieces also use sounds created by hitting on different parts of the body, clapping or simply stepping. In performance Sofia sings on top of this mosaic of sounds combining rules set by Torras' composition and her own improvisation skills.
